Where to get married?
Where to get married in the UK?
The big day is ultimately about you and your significant other, but if you’re not dead-set on eloping to Gretna Green or an if-I-roll-a-seven Vegas quickie, taking your guests into consideration will help guarantee their presence at your wedding. Big or small, most people want to share their day with their friends and family; it’s one of the things that makes the day so special.
People tend to have the vast majority of their closest friends and family within an hour of their home; choose a venue that is easily reachable by public transport or taxi from the central point and if you’d like a remote spot, make sure there is a nearby hotel for those who don’t want to travel too far on the day! When you go for a show-round ask whether the venue has any deals with local amenities such as hotels and taxi firms, then put this info in a handy slip in the invitations.
So, what is important to you?
- If you want your pictures to be filled with flora and fauna take a look at countryside destinations. The first image is one of my favourites because of the pure simplicity of it. The uninterrupted landscape with the setting sun as the only light makes it feel like they are the only two people in the world. One of my favourites is Odo’s Barn in Bilsington, near Ashford, Kent.
- The second image is pure seaside fun! I adore coastal weddings because it spikes all my senses to remind me of the wonder of the world. Hearing the rattle of a crashing wave on pebbles, smelling the cold air and tasting fish, chips and ice cream feels like home to me. Kudos to Laurie and Charlotte for getting down on the seafront for a stunning snap! They got married at The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne.
- Town mouse rather country bumpkin? There are some bustling, busy and beautiful towns and cities that can make your day personal to you. The city life is a huge draw for a lot of people and most towns/cities around the UK are steeped with gorgeous architecture or flowing rivers that you can make use of to add the wow factor to your day. Check out the third pic for a city gathering in Brixton before heading to Dulwich Picture Gallery.
#SomethingBorrowed … Don’t just go to the same venue as your friend because it was pretty for them. Choose a location that’s personal to you.
